The Wilson Drinks Report: Transforming Data into Visual Intelligence

Creating a Market Leader:
Branding & Design for a Premium Industry Report.

I partnered with Tim Wilson to launch the "Wilson Drinks Report," a quarterly analysis aiming to become the most intuitive and visually stimulating resource in the UK drinks market. This project encompassed the full creation of a clean, bold brand identity, development of the Information Architecture (IA) for both print and digital products, and production of premium visual content. My work transformed complex market data into a highly valuable, user-centric printed report and accompanying website.

Strategic Design for Data Superiority
The goal for the Wilson Drinks Report was not just to present data, but to design a user experience that was superior to competitors, making the quarterly analysis more valuable and intuitive for industry professionals. The challenge involved creating a brand and visual language that conveyed authority, precision, and sophistication.

Brand Identity & Information Architecture (IA)
I established the complete visual identity, characterised by a clean, bold aesthetic built around a powerful red and black colour palette. This combination communicates urgency, clarity, and authority, fitting for high-level market intelligence.

User-Centric IA:
A critical component was the re-engineering of the report's structure. I designed the Information Architecture (IA) for the printed report and the website, ensuring the data flow was logical, prioritised user needs, and presented key insights quickly and effectively, enhancing user engagement and value perception.

Key Deliverables:
Designed the comprehensive logo and brand guidelines, the editorial layout of the printed report, photography, and the user-friendly website interface.

Premium Visual Content: Making the Drinks the Hero
To elevate the brand beyond a simple data source and give it the necessary richness and premium feel, we focused heavily on high-quality, aspirational photography.

Creative Direction:
I collaborated with a well-known food and drink photographer, serving as the Creative Director for the entire shoot. My role involved overseeing all aspects of the photography, directing the styling and composition to ensure every shot was visually stimulating and meticulously framed the drinks as the hero product.

Visual Impact:
The resulting imagery played a crucial role in positioning the brand as a sophisticated voice in the premium drinks sector, successfully translating the industry's luxury elements into a stunning visual asset used across the website and report. My holistic design approach—combining strategic IA, bold branding, and high-impact visual content—established the Wilson Drinks Report as a compelling and visually authoritative resource in the competitive UK drinks market.
